On the other hand, it was not the same situation a few decades back. Fruition of web design has been a remarkable expedition, right from the humble beginning of the single column text web page to the high-end animated style web designs on the web pages.

How has the web design world evolved?

Unlike how it is today, HTML coding was the only programming language back then. The first HTML coded website was developed in the end of 1981 and ever since then, it has been increasingly developed for the online internet users. Below is the eventual developmental web process of HTML coding.

First generation of HTML

During the 1990’s, when internet was connecting users globally. The users were able to read and access online web content that were based using HTML codes. Websites were simple, but were limited to text and single columns. The dial up modem was way too slow, because of this web developers couldn’t even think to include web graphics in their web designs.

The first browser was Mosaic, which was used to access the internet. You could run the Mosaic browser on the Unix systems. Loads of constraints, wasn’t it? Web Developers were working really hard to overcome the problems, which they were able to get over as well.

Second generation of HTML

This was the stage, when website designs were starting to adapt to the fast growing online technology. Even though, technology was improving and web designers worked with the creative idea of making their web designs more interactive, but then they ended up just confusing their online traffic visitors by not thinking about having the clean layout of their website pages.

High end looking graphics, was substitution of text words with the use of icons, fancy looking backgrounds and replacing headlines with banners were hi-tech elements which were included and combined altogether in a website design, and became clumsier.

The amount of HTML tags started to increase, which then gave birth to coding HTML 2 to avoid any confusion. It was well understood that HTML2 coding language started to grow complicating from the second generation. But, slow internet was being a problem for an easy download of web graphics and all of the technical things used in website designs.

World Wide Online Web Consortium

When the internet started to become popular amongst the modern human, the World Wide Web Consortium was then created with the simple intention to just avoid the emphasizing of rights by any large company, on website design and the programming languages.

If there were any concern that acquired any of these rights, then the story of today’s online world web would’ve then been entirely different. Eventually, it was known that, there would be plenty of browsers and there would then be browser conflicts.

In spite of browser conflicts, all would communicate across the same World Wide Web platform, for the success of the internet.

An organization called W3C keeps an eye on the web designing and coding rule and it is generalized to the website designers worldwide. Different kinds of HTML versions are offered by all sorts of vendors, to make a difference within website pages and the body of W3C chooses the version of the HTML code required.

W3C sets the standard guidelines that need should be followed by the web developers for designing and coding language. This gives the same web platform for the web designers, across the world globe and also updates the web designers, about the new and  updated web protocols of this organization W3C.

Third generation of HTML

The third generation! HTML 3 was born. From a technology perspective, the use of Flash was in full effect, animated gif graphics, sound fx and 3D inclusion. Microsoft had introduced Internet Explorer as its browser during this time frame. In a nutshell, the web developers had all that they wanted and needed to customize their website designs.

However, for the web users, this 3rd generation proved to be a lot better. Web Developers had a mind set to start attracting visitors, with the use of their clean and impressive style web layouts. Website pages were now designed to have easy understanding and with a better interactions. The 3rd Generation showed the power of web designing.

Fourth generation of HTML

The Fourth generation of HTML coding, marks the manifestation of HTML 5, which is currently being used till this date. The more improved version of HTML codes eliminates the new additional web plugins, during the use of the browser and its also compatible with practically all the web browsers that are being used today.

Now with all these advancements, it can now be marked as an extension of third html generation. Why? because of ‘meeting up with client requirements’ is our ultimate aim which was the concept introduced in the 3rd generation.

Today’s Development

Once upon a time, web designers couldn’t really do anything, except add little content of text. But now, today’s scenario has completely changed and is different. Web designers or web developers can now do almost anything with a website page. They are able to control every tiny detail in an element of an entire website.

Website designs have accomplished a great deal of importance, with the demand of Internet Marketing growth. Clients and businesses have become a lot more dependent on the internet for all their searches and research, with the help of tags & keywords as well.

This concept is not only burdening the web developers and designers, as their job is not only to create and build a clean, interactive website, but also to optimize their sites with keywords to get noticed and exposure in the Google Searches for SEO.
