Google Penguin Update 2.0 Has Been Released

After few weeks of baited and effects of smaller changes within Google’s algorithm, it appears that the penguin is at last finally out of the bag, as mentioned by Google’s Web Spam Chief, Matt Cutts on his article on Wednesday May 22, 2013. According to Matt, 2.3% of US-English queries were affected by this update, the biggest percentage seeing as the original roll out of update Penguin 1.0 last year in April 2012. The new update also affects search results in other languages; according to a few, the effect was greater in German language search queries than in the English langquage. The objective of the new update was to reward legitimately valuable sites, and penalize sites that have gained high ranks using black hat techniques.

The original Penguin update was Google’s initial update to purposely fight off-page factors, particularly targeting network links and strategies of unnatural linking. That update hit over 3% of all English language queries, noticeably changing the search engine’s results pages and obliterating any kind of rankings for some particularly ghastly, black hat offenders.

The features of the new Penguin 2.0 uses, extremely advanced spam-fighting strategies that continuously punishes any unusual or in other words fishy activity online, penalizing websites that obtain great numbers of links incredibly rapidly (typically through paid forms), that catch links from unrelated web sites, and those which have used same match anchor text.
